Video & Important to Know!

  1. Must bring Seaman’s Book (ID, or passport) and last Medical Certificate.
  2. If this is the first time (or interruption of 5+ years), must bring these references:
    • Form u/27 from Family Physician;
    • Reference from the Psychiatry Centre;
    • Reference from the Narcology Centre
  3. Must come on empty stomach or at least 2 hours after the last meal.
  4. In case of health problems (diabetes, blood pressure, etc.), must have references from attending doctor, that state the diagnose and reccommendations.
  5. In case of weight problems, BMI> 30, must pass endurance test.
  6. There is a possibility (extra 10EUR) to have laboratory results quicker (in 1 - 1.5h).

Which documents do I need for the first time to pass the medical exam of seafarers?

3 documents:

Statement from the psychiatrist, that there were not any psychiatric diseases in the past.

Statement from the narcologist, that there were no drug- alcohol abuse problems in the past.

Statement from the family physician (u/27) about the diseases, traumas and vaccinations in the past.

Which documents must I bring for a regular medical examinations?

Bring either ID, seaman's book or passport and the latest medical certificate.

What is STCW certificate?

It is a certificate performed according to ILO IMO STCW convention. It stands for Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping. This convention is an international agreement that establishes minimum standards for seafarers' training, certification, and watchkeeping. This ensures that seafarers from all over the world meet the same level of competence, regardless of their nationality or the country where they work.

What is an OGUK (OEUK) certificate?

An Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) medical examination is intended for offshore workers in the oil and gas industry. Additionally, Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) is the leading trade body for the North Sea energy sector. The certificate is performed according to OGUK standards for the work on the offshore platforms and energy plants, such as wind mill factories.

If I have health problems (high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, etc.), do I need any medical statements?

If there are any diagnoses that require regular medication, a statement from the attending physician (family doctor, cardiologist, endocrinologist, etc.) is required, it has to specify the diagnosis, treatment and recommendations.
